Half and half

A little late on the post today, definitely been a crazy morning at work, so it will be a bit of a post and run.  Shipment of fisheye got delayed, so it will be here today, picking it up at lunch, can’t wait.

Heading back up the hill to Mt. Washington today.  There are so many shots of the Pittsburgh skyline from up there (I obviously have quite a few myself), so I decided to look in a different direction.  This is a view of the South Side of Pittsburgh, which is home to East Carson street and a plethora of bars of all kinds to spend your weekend night at.  What really caught my eye with this shot is how there was a huge shadow over the back half of the scene which caused the sky to almost look stormy in the distance, when in reality it was a clear and sunny day (except for that cloud of course).

This is a seven exposure HDR that I processed with Photomatix and then kicked over the Photoshop.  I added a Color Cast removal filter, as well as my typical Tonal Contrast.  I also added Progressive Sharpening in onOne PhotoTools, as well as a filter that I can’t remember the name of right now, but it gave it more of a desaturated look.  I thought about going straight B&W on this one, but it lost just a little bit, so I stuck with the color version.

Should be back in full swing tomorrow.  Look for pictures from the fish soon.

Another great shot with lots of detail. Those cars crossing the bridge in the foreground adds a nice touch.

I’m sure there is lots of excitement waiting on that fish. :-)

Great title. A little bit of everything in this one (including a Bud Light billboard). Looking forward to shots with the fish.

Half city, half forest. I like it.

Great shot Dave, if I may make a suggestion. I think this photo would be a great to try some tilt and shift blur effects on. It looks like a perfect photo to make everything look miniature. If you do try it let me know how it goes.

Great shot Dave, I like the contrast between the sunlit area and the shade. The image gets even better when it gets enlarged. – Lets see the TS version.. :)
