Good morning and welcome back to Candid Monday. I hope that you all had a great weekend. Mine was busy but low key, got a lot done though. Spent all day yesterday downtown getting autographs from Pittsburgh legends, including (but not limited to) Franco Harris, Rocky Bleier, Sid Bream, Mike Rupp, Manny Sanguillen, Phil Bourque and a whole host of others. The event was put on by a local radio sports talk station, 93.7 the Fan and was actually pretty well put together. I took my camera but didn’t get a whole lot of pictures, I was more interested in getting my own shots signed. Pretty good times.

For this installment of Candid Monday we’ll go back a few weeks to the Pittsburgh Marathon, when I was downtown trying to get some shots of my sister running (which I didn’t end up getting). I was walking by PNC Park and I saw this family sitting on the sidewalk against the building, presumably waiting for another family member to run by. I guess it was a late night for this guy, as he did not seem overly pleased to be there. I thought that the dog sitting next to him was the perfect complement to his mood.
As with most of my candids, I’m trying to go a little bit lighter on the processing. Opened this one in Camera RAW and decreased global saturation and contrast and increased the black levels and the vibrance. Added a Tonal Contrast filter in Color Efex to give it more of a gritty feel and a Blue Dawn Leonidas filter in onOne PhotoTools to give it that cinematic blue hue. Straightened it out, added to pill box and called it a wrap.
Hope you guys all have a great week. See you tomorrow.

LOL, great shot. Even the dog looks bored.
Awesome capture Dave! I think the dog really makes the photo. Have a good one man!
guess he’s feeling a little hung over or something, great catch Dave!
Great work as always, Dave.
You really captured the moment here.
Cool shot! Guy does look like he is a bit hung over, lol. Also, I think that lady in the back caught ya!
Nice shot Dave. Love the dog! The guy looks like he’s hurtin’ from a long night out…
Your blog looks great Dave! Love what you’ve done here. Looks fresh and inviting, one can tell you’ve worked hard for this and with great passion. Keep it up my friend. I love this street photo here, can’t get any better with that processing – so lifelike and believable! I wish you more great photography that we can all enjoy =)
The dog and his owner have the same look of enthusiasm.
