All right, so pretty excited. Rented a Sigma 15mm 2.8 fisheye lens from Borrow Lenses and it will be here this afternoon. I wanted to give one a shot before I made the plunge and bought one, and I’ll have this one for two weeks. Look for some shots coming up soon.

Today’s shot is the Pittsburgh skyline from an area that I’ve only been at in person (and not in a car) twice in my life, both times in the past month. The Liberty Bridge connects my area of the South Hills of Pittsburgh to downtown and is one that I’ve driven over hundreds and hundreds of times. However I’ve never walked over it, and it provides a different view of the Pittsburgh skyline that I haven’t photographed before. I took this one a few Fridays ago on my way downtown for the Arts Fest. Somehow I was able to get the shot without any traffic on the bridge in the middle of rush hour.
Pretty standard HDR processing on this one. Seven exposures on the tripod, processed with Photomatix and then shipped to CS5. Added an overall curves layer to increase contrast and then a blue adjustment layer for the sky. Applied both Tonal and Pro Contrast filters in Color Efex and adjusted the shadows a bit to brighten up the buildings. That’s about it.
See you all tomorrow.

Love this shot, man.
Lots to see from this vantage point. Nice processing.
nice Dave, great lines and great sky!! funny how you find great things to shoot so close to home!
Great shot Dave and love the processing! The foreground is interesting enough but the sky sets it off!
Love this shot Dave! Can’t wait to see what you do with that fisheye!
Sweet shot man. Love that bridge and how it leads you into the scene.
Love the position of the walkway here! Great comp. Enjoy the fish – you will LOVE it! What camera are you shooting with BTW?
It will be on my D700 Chris. Thanks for stopping by!
Love the roof-top/skyline view that you’ve captured Dave. Very effective framing as all of the bridges lead into downtown. The shadows of the handrail add a very compelling repeating element to this image.
Pretty awesome shot Dave! I’m diggin the textures, but the way the buildings look like they are kissing the sky is great. Very cool shot man.
Nice shot. You really know your Photoshop…
I have just been using photomatix and lightroom, but may need to make the plunge to CS…
Outstanding!!!
