Back to the ‘Burgh

It’s been a few weeks since I posted a picture of Pittsburgh and I really like this shot (in contrast to yesterday’s) so I wanted to share.

This is a view of the Pittsburgh skyline from the North Shore of Pittsburgh, home to PNC Park and Heinz Field.  I’m actually standing right below PNC Park before a Friday night game a month or so ago against the Phillies, which I think had more fans from Philadelphia thank Pittsburgh.  The sun sets over the North Shore, so the light looks great as it hits the building, casting long shadows on some and reflecting off the windows in others.  This was a little before the actual sunset, but I still really liked how the light was hitting it and the skies seemed to flow from the city.

Not a whole lot I had to do for this scene.  Processed the five handheld exposures in Photomatix, then opened the shot in CS5.  I usually decrease saturation, however in this case I increased overall saturation, as well as added a blue curves layer for the sky.  Added a Tonal Contrast filter (100% for the water and city and 50% for the sky) and straightened it a bit.

Tomorrow I have a baby shoot as well as a live band at night.  Stay tuned for pictures of both.  I hope that you all have a great weekend.
