Candid New York – Part 2

Welcome back to the second part of my Candid New York series.  Just wanted to start off by saying how much I appreciated all of your comments on Part 1.  I hope that you will like the final installment of candid shots as well.

I also wanted to mention that about half of these shots were taken on my walk around the city with Mark Garbowski, a fellow photog from Queens, New York.  If you are ever in town and looking to do some shooting, Mark is a great guy to meet up with.

Today we start out with one of the funniest candids (at least to me) that I’ve ever taken.  Mark and I were just crossing the street when we saw these two older gentleman having a conversation, but the dog was more interested in us as we walked by.  Brought the camera up to my eye, fired off a quick shot and shuffled on by.  Mark asked, “Did you get the shot?”  My response, “Oh yeah”.

Next up is a shot similar to yesterday, just not quite as low of a POV.  This couple was being fairly flirty, and I just missed her giving him a little kiss on the cheek.  I settled for this shot instead as they were walking away.

I know I’ve already posted my obligatory subway shot, but I also had to get a shot of someone standing as the subway was going by.  So, here it is.  This girl looks like she is taking a nap.

One question on this shot…calling a cab or disco dancing?

The steps in NYC must be really comfortable.  Saw many people, like this guy, catching a few z’s.

I would really like this shot of this guy taking a self portrait of himself with his Canon, but I think that the girl laughing at him in the background makes the shot.

And we end this series with another one of my favorites, the silhouette of one of the many sax players in Central Park while a father and daughter walk towards him.  Not really sure what it is about this scene, I just really like it.

Well, that does it for the New York candids, at least for now.  I may have a few more that I find, but these are definitely my top picks.  Thanks for stopping by and I’ll catch you tomorrow.

I am all about that last shot. Something about the mystery of the underexposed person just hanging out under the bridge is captivating. I bet that sax music had to be quite awesome to hear in there. Wonderful shots today!
