Blue in the ‘Burgh

Welcome to another Friday everyone.  As always, I hope that you all have a fun/exciting/relaxing/enjoyable weekend ahead of you.  Today is the first day of fall, which means that soon we get to set our clocks back and gain an hour of sleep, which is always fun.  Pumpkins and Halloween are right around the corner follow by Thanksgiving and Christmas, the best time of the year.  I think I may be getting a bit ahead of myself though.  For now, let’s stick with some shots from the summer in Pittsburgh.

Kind of a quick post today, as this is shaping up to be a crazy Friday at work already.  Today’s shots are from two different photowalks I went on this summer with some talented photographers Mike Criswell, Pete Talke and Zach Frailey.  Another is a place that I just can’t seem to photograph enough of, the rotunda outside the Pennsylvanian in the Strip District in Pittsburgh, taken with my 16-35 lens.  At the very bottom of this post is the same shot, slightly different angle, just shot with a fisheye I rented as well.  Couldn’t decide which one I liked better, so I thought that I would post both.  In between are two shots from the parking garage across the street, one of the steps that lead down to the lower level and one of the actual Pennsylvania, with the Civic Arena and the Steel Tower in the background.

Thanks for dropping by today; enjoy your weekends and I’ll catch you all on Monday.

Terrific shots today Dave. While I generally like the effects of a fisheye I think this time around I prefer your first shot. The fisheye image is a bit too overbearing whereas the first one you really get more of a feel of the location and what’s behind the arches.

Nice set of images Dave. I especially like the fisheye shot. The combination of straight and curved lines really works.

Great set here Dave. The top one is outstanding, great POV and the processing is spot on!

Wow, Dave. These are awesome shots, man. Great details and color. Something about that garage staircase with the arc from the fisheye that makes it special. Love it!

Great set Dave, I really love that rotunda as well and that last shot is just money.

Just as a minor suggestion you could clone in some of those burned out lights on the rotunda to give it perfect symmetry, but that’s a minor nit.

Nice Dave! I think I like the first the best. I really want a Fisheye, but am waiting for the D800 to come out – no more buying DX lenses at this point. How did you like using the fisheye?
