In the books

I thought that I would take a break from the New York shots today to post some shots of PNC Park, the home of the Pittsburgh Pirates, since the baseball season is winding down.  This is one of the best times of the year in terms of sports, as you have the baseball regular season ending and the playoffs starting, the NFL and college football just kicking off and of course hockey season is just a few weeks away.

The Pirates (or Bucs or Buccos as they are affectionately called in Pittsburgh) had a great run earlier this year, actually holding on to first place for a few days.  This was big news in Pittsburgh and around the league, as they have had a losing season every year for the last 18 years, and this year made it 19.  Still though, the team seems to be trending up and there is optimism for next year.  At least it’s fun to go to the games at one of the greatest ball parks in America.

These are a collection of shots from a game I went to right in the middle of the Pirates’ slide in early August.  We had second level seats right behind home plate which afforded us a great view of the Pittsburgh skyline in addition to the game, which are the first two shots above.  For the third shot I put on the 70-200 f2.8 as there was a pretty cool sun flare reflecting off one of the buildings.  Finally, below you can see the home plate entrance of PNC Park, taken as we were leaving the stadium

Thanks for stopping by today folks, catch you tomorrow.

Great shots of the park and skyline Dave. As a Red Sox fan, I’m glad the season’s almost over after their performance this month. :(

Awesome shots, Dave. The PNC shots are outstanding but the skyline takes the prize today. :-)
