Today we turn the other way from Cowboys Stadium to capture a bit of a different scene. These are a few shots that I took on our Sunday night in Arlington shooting with Cliff Baise (who you can see in the lower left portion of the above shot as well as the screen on his D700), who was great to meet and shoot with. In and around Richard Greene Linear Park that separates the Ballpark where the Rangers play and Cowboys Stadium there are a whole bunch of these cool sculptures, called the Caelum Moor Sculptures, and we dedicated in 2008 as a part of the redevelopment of the Johnson Creek corridor and the building of Cowboys Stadium (history lessons are now over for the day). I have a few more shots to post of the various pieces of art, but today I’ll just share the one that was actually in the water.

Not having a tripod made the nighttime photography I did a little bit more difficult. There was a lot of propping the camera up on my bag, raising the lens with anything I had, including my phone, wallet and my wife’s purse. That being said, I was a little limited on composition, but I still really like how these came out. It was a little windy the night we were shooting and you can see the clouds just streaking across the sky.
These were both processed fairly similar. They are six exposure HDRs processed with Photomatix and edited in CS5. Cloned out a few dust spot and for the first one tonemapped the +1 image of Cliff and masked it in. I had one where he is a bit more still, but I thought that the motion blur went well with the sky. I also masked in a piece of the -1 exposure to recover some of the blown out lights in the background. Then I added Dreamland, Arkham, Turbo Boost and Dark Contrast filters in onOne PhotoTools before finishing up with Nik Software’s Dfine for noise reduction. A little straightening and that’s all she wrote.
T hanks for stopping by today folks, I’ll catch you all tomorrow.

Cool image Dave with the motion in the clouds. Always a challenge without a tripod but well done despite the lack of one.

Great images Dave. Perfect title too as it does seem the clouds are in a hurry to get to the finish line. You shot these without a tripod? Well done.

That’s cool, really like that sky.
Really strong sense of motion, especially on the first one. It’s been fun watching you go through your Dallas shots.
