Like I yesterday, the Fort Worth Stockyards were one of our favorite places that we visited while in Texas (other than Cowboys Stadium of course). Yesterday’s shots were all dedicated to wide angle, night time HDRs while today we’ll take a stroll through the Stockyards with the 50mm and no HDRs. As for the title of this post, that’s the other great thing about the Stockyards, they really do have everything. From nice restaurants, to cattle drinks, to all different kinds of shops, it has entertainment for all.
You know, when I originally got that lens I wasn’t sure how much I would use it. But every time I spend a few hours shooting with it, the more I’ve come to love it. Anyways, on to the Stockyards. Oh, the above shot is one of the flags you pass as you enter the little “downtown” area of the Stockyards. You can see the sign from yesterday’s post in the background.

I don’t think that I’ve put a self portrait up here for a while a while, so here’s one of my reflection in the door of the Stockyards Hotel

We were there late in the day on Friday and the sun was at a great low angle in the sky. This is my wife Dana patiently posing for a picture for me.

We saw all kinds of interesting things, like this cowboy statue wearing a black diaper, shoulder pads and a big belt buckle.

A sign to Billy Bob’s, the world’s largest Honky Tonk. More from here to come.

A couple of times a day they had a cattle drive right down the main road, it was pretty cool to see.

This store, Knife Alley, was literally that…an alley. It was inside, but no more than a few feet wide.

One of the steers that you could get your picture taken on (which we did).

Tried to go a little abstract with this low point of view of the brick road.
Most of these were processed in the new onOne Perfect Effects with a few having filters from Color Efex applied as well. Really love both of those programs!
That’s all for today folks…thanks for stopping and I’ll see you all tomorrow.

Great series of street scenes Dave. Truly gives a feel for the place. I agree with Steven that the focus on the sign for Billy Bob’s works really well. Maybe that’s the case because I spent a long time in Billy Bob’s and my eyesight was truly fuzzy when left.

Great series of shots man. Those horns on the long horn cattle are crazy! I’ve never seen them twisted like that.

Great collection of shots – you’ve covered a wide range of topics – like a visual narrative. I particularly like the Billy Bob’s sign
