Identically different

Morning everyone!  Today we’ll stick around the North Shore from my photowalk last Friday night.  As I’ve previously said, this is by far one of my favorite places to shoot in Pittsburgh and it looks great at any time of day.  These two images were taken from the same spot, about four hours apart and also were just feet where my image from yesterday was taken.  The reflections weren’t quite as clear as I would have liked them to be in the night shot since it was a little breezy out, but I think that it turned out all right regardless!  The bridge on the right is the Roberto Clemente Bridge while the one on the left is the Andy Warhol Bridge.

Both of these are seven shot exposures that I processed with Photomatix and edited in Photoshop.  I applied similar filters to both in onOne PhotoTools (Dreamland, Turbo Boost and Tonal Contrast), adding the extra filter of Magic Sunset to the day time one.  I applied a Tonal Contrast filter from Color Efex just to the skyline part of each image, with the night shot also getting a Dfine noise reduction filter for the sky.  A little bit of masking to fix the blow out areas and I called it a day.

Thanks for stopping by today folks.  See you all tomorrow.

Awesome shots, I love the motion in the sky on the night one. You’re making me homesick!

Great shots, Dave. Both are very nicely processed but the daytime shot is my fav here. Nice work, man.

Stunning Dave. Love the top one with the great sky. The comp on these are really well thought out with the two bridges as leading lines.

Dave, these look fantastic. I can’t even deide which I like better. The blurry reflections lend to a dreamy feel, while the clouds in the first shot are speckled to perfection! Well done buddy.

The sky and river in the first one are dramatic – the river really glistens.
