Winter wonderland

Morning everyone!

Since I am still working through reorganizing my Lightroom library, I haven’t had much time to process any new pictures.  My plan is to get to some this weekend, especially since I am going on a little photowalk tomorrow night.  Also been spending time editing a wedding video I shot, so all that adds up to another day from the archives!

These are all shots taken last winter during the blizzard we had in March.  They had been calling for about a foot of snow, which we see usually every winter, so no one was really concerned.  But then it kept snowing.  And snowing.  And snowing.  From about 1:00 on Friday afternoon until almost 2:00 a.m. Saturday morning it just kept snowing.  All in all, my arena got just under 30 inches, more snow than the Pittsburgh area had received in over 17 years.  Before I did any shoveling, I made sure to take a walk around the neighborhood.

The top picture is one that was actually taken a few weeks after the blizzard, but most of the snow was still around.  To this day, it remains one of my favorite pictures.  The second shot is looking done my street from right in front of my house as soon as the plow trucks came by, which wasn’t until almost noon on Saturday.  Good thing we didn’t have any where to go!  The last one is the front of my house after I managed to shovel a path to the street.  Through a little Orton effect in for good measure.

Really awesome winter shots Dave. Great leading lines. The snow is so pretty until you have to shovel it…

Like all 3! The first one is special, seeming to be B&W with the yellow sign as a contrast. Very good! (@jolicoeur11)

We had a real bad cold spell last year with snow lying for many days – it’s ok for a day or two and then the fun wears off! Second shot is my favourite of this series – a bit of blue sky always brightens up the scene
