Good morning everyone and happy Monday! I hope that you all enjoyed your weekend!
We’ll start out this week with a shot from Mt. Washington, one of the best views in Pittsburgh. I am currently training for a marathon and every Saturday morning my sister (who lives on Mt. Washington) and I go on our weekly long training run. I swing by her place, pick her up, park in the building that you can just near the bottom of the above image and we head out on the run (17 on this particular day!). I’ve been saying for weeks that I want to bring my camera and get shots of the sunrise, as we usually head out before 7:00. I kept forgetting (I mean, it usually is before 6:30 when I leave on a Saturday morning!), but I remembered this week. The sun was just coming over the horizon when I pulled up to the overlook and was treated to a beautiful sunrise. More to come in the next few days!
Some exciting photography news this weekend too! Ordered myself a B&W 10 stop ND filter (which will be here tomorrow) and even more exciting, booked my first wedding of 2013! Hopefully the first of many!
Thanks for swinging by today everyone, catch you all tomorrow!

Perfect placement of the sun in this awesome shot, Dave! I like how the river is running right to the beautiful light. Great shot, man.
Awesome composition and light Dave. I get tired driving 26 miles as opposed to running it. Good luck with the marathon.
Beautiful shot Dave! Love how you caught the sun with the river leading right to it! Great dude! Congrats on the wedding job!
Nice early morning shot! It looks so calm right now!
Love how the river leads right to the sunrise. Nicely done. And you’re gonna love using the 10 stop ND filter. It’s one of my favorite tools in my bag now.
Congratulations Dave that’s fantastic. Beautiful sunrise and wonderful composition. I really have to visit Pittsburgh on of these days.
Nice Dave, you will love the filter! I just booked my second wedding! congrats
Shooting into the sun is always difficult for me. How many framed you bracket for this image?
I used 5 for this shot Andrew. The sun was a bit diffused from the clouds, so I wasn’t able to get those crisp sun rays.
This is certainly an awesome view! I really really liked it…
Freaking awesome man. Love how the sun is perfectly aligned with the river off in the distance.
Love the sun just peering above the skyline, well timed!
Really like this one Dave. The gold glow on the horizon is great along with your processing style. Nicely done!
and a gorgeous waking up light it is
