On my last trip to New York I spent a little bit of time in Central Park at a couple different times of day. On this particular day, the last night day that I was in the city, I stopped by around sunset. My original plan was to capture reflections of the Manhattan skyline the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. Unfortunately, I grossly misjudged how long it was going to take my to walk from 33rd Street up to the reservoir, which is a little over halfway through the Park. Seeing as I was there a bit too early and not wanting to waste my last night there just sitting around, I snapped a few shots and was on my way. The first one above was of one of the trees that was one I took on my way back, just around the corner from the Mall. The sun was coming through the trees nicely and I couldn’t resist the sun flare.

The next one is of one of the trees that was around the trail that surrounds the reservoir. The trees had just bloomed probably a few days before and the evening light was hitting them perfectly! No HDR for this one either.

Finally I have one of the walking trail itself, and I am standing under the tree that I featured in the previous shot.
Thanks for stopping by today everyone. See you all tomorrow.

Killer flare in that first shot, man. That walking trail makes me want to hop the train and get back to the Big Apple. Very nice work, Dave!
Man, the flare in the first shot is just insane!
Wow, so envious you were able to capture the cherry blossoms in the park. I wanted to do that, but wasn’t able to get out to the city in time this year…again.
Excellent images Dave. Your NYC stuff is great. Nice timing with the cherry blossoms and the flare in the first image is killer.
