The Pond

Today we’ll hang around New York City for a couple of shots of the Pond in Central Park.  This is definitely one of my favorite places to shoot in the Park, as it gives a great sense of the city life that is lurking just outside of the green trees and hills with the boundaries of Central Park.  I walked by it pretty much every time I made it this far into midtown but these are by far my two favorite shots of it.  The first one, above, was taken my last morning there, just a few hours before my flight.  It is a 7 HDR image panorama, with each image being made up of five individual brackets.  Last summer when I was there I just took one set of brackets to capture the Pond, but I like the wide angle much better.

I was also there at the, the same night that I posted the shots from a few days ago, when it was raining.  I love the way that the Plaza Hotel shimmers as it reflects in the water!

Thanks for stopping by today folks, make sure to stop back tomorro!

We’ve captured these so beautifully Dave. I agree the reflection of the Plaza Hotel in the second shot is awesome.

It’s always interesting to see the beautiful park surrounded by these massive sky scrapers. Love the reflection on the Pond!

What beautiful pictures, Dave, absolutely wonderful! I love how you shared a day and night shot of the scene, they both have such a different feel to them!

While I certainly appreciate the technique that went into the panoramic image, I have to say that the bottom image has a softness to it that is absolutely magical. Beautiful work!
