Up North

You know, I’ve been so busy recently with all of the new house going ons, that I kind of forgot about the whole backlog of pictures that I have yet to post.  From random Pittsburgh photowalks, to my trip to New York and a lot of little things in between, my “To Process” folder in Lightroom (which I just upgraded to LR4 and am very impressed!) is getting pretty filled up.  So if over the next couple of weeks it seems like I have a jumbled mess of posts, stick with me!  I’ll get through them sooner or later!

Today we head back up to the top of the Steel Building for a panorama of the North Side of Pittsburgh.  Dominating the scene is the Allegheny River, which appears green (even though it is not) because of the overcast day.  The three yellow bridges you see just off to the left of center are (from left to right) the Roberto Clemente Bridge, Andy Warhol Bridge and Rachel Carson Bridge, (formerly named the 6th, 7th and 9th Street Bridges) nicknamed the Three Sisters.  If you move further to the left you see PNC Park and Heinz Field, homes of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers respectively.  The big white building in the center that has the ski jump type roof is the David L. Lawrence Convention Center, home of many big events in Pittsburgh, included Ben Roethlisberger’s wedding reception!  One other building to note is the Pennsylvanian, which you saw in yesterday’s post; it was the picture with the big rotunda, and is located in the bottom right hand corner.  Finally, you have 279, the highway that leads you out of the city to the North, and you can see the glowing red brake lights indicating that it is rush hour traffic!

Thanks for stopping by today folks!  See you all tomorrow!
