One of my favorite summertime activities is being out on our friends boat. One day I hope to have my own, but for now, I’ll enjoy hers as much as I can! A couple weekends back we spend both Friday night and Saturday out on the water and while Friday was a bit of a bust (huge lightning storm), Saturday turned out to be beautiful. I’ll try to go in the best chronological order that I can for these!

Like I said, Friday night was a little nasty. It started out beautiful, and we seemed to be outrunning the storm as we headed up the Allegheny, but the storm finally caught up with us. Throw in the fact that we were leaking transmission fluid and it was a slow jog back to the dock. I got an Olympus waterproof camera last year for my birthday, so the majority of the pictures, including the one above, were taken with that. As the rain set in it covered the boat and I got the first shot above of the rain on the windshield.

I tried my best to get some lightning shots, but wasn’t able to time it quite right. However, the storm finally passed and we were treated to an amazing sunset. Both shots above were taken with my D700 of some of the bridges along the Allegheny River. You can see it’s still raining in the first one if you look at the water drops on the river.

Saturday was a different story. It was beautiful out and after getting the boat fixed up, we were good to go! Since my camera was waterproof, I decided to have some fun with it. I was up first on the wakeboard and took this shot looking down towards the board.

Next up was my buddy Ed, who is a bit more skilled at it than I am!

It was no surprise that we saw a pirate ship at one of the docks that we stopped at for beverages. I mean, we do have a baseball team called the Pirates!

This was one of my favorite shots from Saturday, where I put the camera on the side of the boat and just got the water rushing past. Looked pretty cool!
Thanks for stopping by today everyone!

The two bridge shots are killer.
These are great Dave. I guess you can really get some cool shots when you don’t care about the camera getting wet.
Looks like a weekend of fun even with the bad start Dave. Nice shots. My brother-in-law has a boat in Wildwood NJ and it sure is fun to go out for a ride.
cool shots Dave and love the color of that sunset!
